In commemoration of the bicentennial celebration of Major General Lafayette’s triumphant return tour of America as the “Guest of the Nation” between 1824 and 1825, we will travel to Yorktown and Gloucester County to learn about Lafayette’s valiant contributions to the American cause, the decisive victory by the Franco-American alliance over the British Army at the Battle of Yorktown, along with Gloucester County’s role in the Revolutionary War.

This travel program includes guided tours of the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, Gloucester Museum of History, and the site of the Battle of the Hook at Tindall’s Point (now known as Gloucester Point)—the largest cavalry engagement during the American Revolution that resulted in a strategic victory for the Allied Armies and contributed to the British surrender at Yorktown.
